Community in Motion: Volunteer for Recovery Ride

My name is Brandon Stanton, I am the manager of the Castro Country Club and the Recovery Ride Volunteer Director.

As we begin planning for the 2026 Recovery Ride, I want to personally invite each of you to participate as a Recovery Ride Road Crew volunteer.

The Recovery Ride is more than a cycling event — it is a powerful expression of the Castro Country Club’s mission to be a safe and sober community center and a refuge for the LGBTQ recovery community in the San Francisco Bay Area. From September 11–13, 2026, Riders will travel from Sausalito through Marin and Sonoma Counties to Guerneville, raising vital funds and building community every mile of the way. Learn more about the Ride.

Behind this extraordinary event is the Road Crew — the volunteers who ensure the ride is safe, welcoming, and successful. There are a wide range of roles available at various skill and engagement levels. Volunteers will be provided with meals and tents during the event.

To streamline recruitment, onboarding, and communication, we are using the POINT Volunteer Platform for all 2026 Recovery Ride volunteer roles.

Please take a few minutes to sign up as a volunteer at the button below.

How to get started:

  • Click “Join”

  • Create your volunteer account (email or Google, Apple, or Okta)

  • Complete the POINT Volunteer Application

  • Sign up for a Volunteer Townhall & Onboarding Session (available after registration)

Your participation helps create a safe, supportive, and welcoming event for everyone involved. Thank you for all that you do — and for considering being part of Recovery Ride 2026 in this hands-on way.

Feel free to reach out with any questions at cccrecoveryride@gmail.com.

Easter in the Park 2026 - Community Volunteer Opportunities

Easter in the Park 2026 - Community Volunteer Opportunities

About Easter in the Park

Easter in the Park is a beloved annual event hosted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at San Francisco’s Mission Dolores Park. Each year, thousands of Bay Area queer, trans, and allied folx gather for a day of music, performance art, and irreverent fun.

We Invite Community Members and Neighbors to Volunteer

All volunteer opportunities listed are open to any queer, trans, or ally who are willing to share their time and skills to support the Sisters’ Mission to help spread beauty and joy, oust bigotry, and amplify queer and trans voices.

Easter in the Park kicks off with Children’s Easter at 10:00 AM and includes family-friendly programming such as an Easter egg hunt, photos with the Easter Bunny, and games. Children’s Easter takes place on the east side of the park’s north field — near the corner of 18th and Dolores.

Beginning at Noon, the park becomes a San Francisco spectacle of outrageous joy and sacred nonsense — culminating in the legendary contests: Easter Bonnet, Foxy Mary, and Hunky Jesus. Hosted by emcees Sister Roma, Peaches Christ, and Honey Mahogany the celebration features live entertainment, drag artists, miracles and Sisterly mischief. Featured artists include internationally renowned drag queen Christian recording artist Flamy Grant, San Francisco’s Drag Laureate Per Sia, Bay Area King Papi Churro, activists and entertainers Xochitl, Grace Towers, KaiKai Bee Michaels, and powerhouse vocalist Alotta Boutte.

The Wandering Officer: New Databases and Police Accountability

The Wandering Officer: New Databases and Police Accountability

From the Anti Police-Terror Project: Modern law enforcement in the US have long been shielded from transparency and accountability when they abuse their powers to terrorize or kill the people they're sworn to protect. When California passed and strengthened the 2018 “Right to Know Act”, journalists and data scientists came together to provide the public the right to see records from nearly 700 law enforcement agencies from city police and county sheriffs to California highway patrol and district attorneys--stripping away decades of secrecy surrounding serious uses of force, officer-involved shootings, and law enforcement misconduct.

Find out more about the Police Records Access Project, what the new statewide database of police misconduct and use-of-force records contains, and how it’s related to a new law creating the possibility to decertify officers with histories of abuse.

Guest Speakers include:

  • Uncle Bobby X: activist and community organizer, and advisory member of the POST Accountability Advisory Board that makes decertification recommendations

  • Jack Glaser: UC Berkeley professor of Public Policy and advisory member of the POST Accountability Advisory Board

  • Cat Brooks: activist, community organizer, artist and co-founder of the Anti Police-Terror Project

  • Amanda Majail-Blanco: student, youth organizer, and family liaision of Alternatives in Action supporting systems' impacted families in Oakland and the Bay Area

Mutual Aid Community Gathering

To our Bay Area Community:

At a time of extreme political attacks on queer, trans, immigrant, and BIPOC community members, we have been looking for a space to meet local activists, share resources, strategize, and take action.

If you share this feeling, please join us for our second meeting on Tuesday, December 9th, at A.B.O. Comix in downtown Oakland to discuss the needs of our community, strategize ways to support one-another, and plan for a monthly mutual aid gathering. This month’s focus is food insecurity.

This event is open to everyone of all ages, experiences, identities, etc—If you don’t know much about mutual aid, or you’re an expert, it doesn’t matter! We want to meet you!

We will have drinks and snacks! See you there!

Become a Gender Advocate (Peer Counselor) with TACT

Under TACT (Trans Advocacy and Care Team), Gender Advocates are trans and nonbinary volunteers who provide free and sliding scale 1-on-1 peer counseling to other trans and nonbinary people. They employ strong active listening skills and center the lived experiences of the individuals who they support. Gender Advocates provide compassionate listening, affirmative guidance, and supportive resources with the ultimate goal of helping other trans and non-binary folks to thrive. Great opportunity for folx who are becoming a therapist, counselor, or community organizer. Also open to folx interested in the mental health, social justice, and community organizing space.

They are kicking off their new volunteer Gender Advocate cohort training on Tuesday, September 30th, from 4:30 - 7pm PST / 7:30 - 10pm EST.

This is a 10-week training (1.5hr/week commitment) to equip Gender Advocates with the essential skills and resources needed to successfully provide trans and nonbinary folx with the gender-affirming support they need. After the training, Gender Advocates can expect to hold their own 1-on-1 peer counseling sessions with peers that match their unique stories, background, and experience (carefully matched by our TACT Programs Manager). Throughout this whole experience, Gender Advocates will report and have our TACT Programs Manager as a mentor for ongoing, weekly support.
