Volunteer with Save the Bay, Point Blue Conservation Science, & TurnOut
Join us for our volunteer day with Save the Bay, Point Blue Conservation Sciences, & TurnOut!
This event has been rescheduled from its original date and is set to take place on Saturday, March 22nd, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Volunteers will contribute to the restoration of the Novato Baylands, a mosaic of tidal marsh, seasonal wetland, and upland habitat located along San Pablo Bay. Primary activities will be mulching around newly installed native plants to provide them with nutrients, water retention, and weed suppression. We will also be weeding around these new plants to help them have more space to grow. Finally, we'll take time for birdwatching and will have a spotting scope and a couple of binoculars on hand- though bringing your own, if you have them, is encouraged!
This event is suitable for ages 7 and up (with guardian supervision for minors). Volunteers should be comfortable with physical tasks such as kneeling, bending, and walking on uneven terrain. Volunteers should wear layers and sturdy, closed-toed shoes that can get dirty. It's recommended volunteers also bring a hat, water bottle, and sunscreen. Gloves, tools, and snacks will be provided!
This event is rain or shine! If there's heavy rain, alternate indoor nursery tasks will be available.
