Support the Asian Women Empowerment Rally at the Asian Art Museum

  • Asian Art Museum 200 Larkin Street San Francisco, CA, 94102 United States (map)

On March 16th, San Francisco will be one of many cities hosting a nationwide rally to continue breaking the silence around violence against Asian and Pacific Islander (A/PI) communities. Mindful that March is both Women’s History Month and the anniversary of the Atlanta spa shootings, this rally centers healing and action in recognition of the feelings, labor, and presence of A/PI women. In that spirit, this San Francisco event at the Asian Art Museum will commemorate the Atlanta spa shooting and all A/PI women victims, yet highlight the spirited achievements of A/PI women artists, activists, and visionaries. The collaborators behind this event are calling on community members and allies to connect with each other and commit to our mutual growth.

The following volunteer roles are needed:

  • Welcoming visitors and provide guidance on where is what, knowing what the program is and answers any question visitors may have

  • Help set up tables and support our vendors with decorating if needed and move stuff (should only be banners, pamphlets like such)

  • Help museum with checking vaccination IDs

  • Occupying table to provide information about the coalition

The event begins at 1:00pm on Wednesday, March 16th. Volunteer shifts will run until around 7:30pm.

After signing up below, you will receive an automated email confirming your sign up and putting you in contact with Zeien from Asians Are Strong. Please respond to this email to coordinate your shift details with Zeien.

Organization Description:

Asians Are Strong is an organization borne out of the 2021 rally mourning the Atlanta spa shootings and incidents of street violence against Asian elders in the Bay Area. They strive to support the Asian American community by rebuilding confidence and assurance in the Asian community, as well as reminding the world that Asian people are strong, challenging the model minority myth.
