Become a Volunteer Friend to a Neighbor Experiencing Homelessness with UPLIFT San Diego
UPLIFT San Diego is looking for dedicated & passionate individuals to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness by volunteering as a friend in their Be a Friend/Home Team Program!
Volunteer Friends meet with their Neighbor at least once a month in person over breakfast or lunch to get to know each other, and calls their Neighbor at least once a month to talk on the phone and check in with them. UPLIFT provides an orientation training and ongoing support from the Program Manager. Additionally, in conjunction with their Home Team program, volunteers will support individuals on their journey to stable housing and may coordinate with case managers for housing placement.
Volunteer requirements include:
Be 18 years old or older.
Pass a background check.
Commit to connecting with your friend twice a month.
Have access to a reliable phone, computer, & WiFi.
Complete a few hours of onboarding training.
Time commitment: 12 months.
